Dr Ramanuj is a Consultant Psychiatrist at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH), London where he specialises in Pain and Neurorehabilitation Medicine. He is the Associate Medical Director for the RNOH and the Clinical Director of the Integrated Mental Health Service here.
He is also the Outreach Psychiatrist for the London Spinal Cord Injury Network, responsible for assessing all patients with spinal cord injury and complex mental health difficulties in London. Until 2022 he was the Clinical Director of the London Spinal Cord Injury Centre and a member of NHS England’s Operational Delivery Group for Spinal Cord Injury (SCI), responsible for setting national standards for SCI rehabilitation. He also has expertise in pain medicine, having been on the NICE Committee for the first guidelines on the safe prescribing of medicines used in chronic pain management.
He has extensive experience of research as a past Harkness Fellow at Columbia University in New York, and has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications, chapters and editorials and regularly speaks at international policy and research forums.
