Dr Natalie Hiser
Dr. Natalie Hiser specialises in the psychological assessment of adults with complex difficulties and provision of clinical and
risk assessments for both the criminal and family court.
With over 20 years in NHS she has worked across various mental health services including community and forensic
learning disability; women’s forensic; community and prison personality disorder services and prison mental health.
Areas in which she provides expert opinion include personality disorder, mental health, trauma, substance misuse, learning
disability, challenging behaviours and/or offending behaviour.
In the family court and for social services she provides assessments of parents where there is a concern about:- parental
mental health difficulties, attachment difficulties, relationship difficulties, domestic violence, parental substance misuse,
parental ability to protect a child from harm or parental learning disability.
In the criminal court she produces clinical psychological assessments of risk on issues including violence, domestic
violence, sexual offending and other offending. She provides reports for criminal courts, parole boards and mental health
tribunals.
Since 2016 Dr. Hiser has been clinical lead for the PIPE service (Psychologically Informed Prison Environment) in HMP
Swaleside which is part of the national Offender Personality Disorder Pathway Strategy. She is experienced in individual
and group therapy and draws on a range of theoretical models. She has specialist training in mentalisation and schema
therapy and regularly provides these therapies.
Dr. Hiser regularly provides teaching and consultation to psychology and multi-agency colleagues as well as management
and supervision.
