Dr Craig Smith
Dr Smith works as a half time consultant psychiatrist employed by Lancashire Care Foundation NHS Trust (LCFT). He has been employed within the same department since May 1999. Currently he provides Consultant support for The Lancaster Community Mental Health Team (CMHT). He is the Responsible Clinician looking after these patients when they are admitted to The Orchard which is the psychiatric hospital for Lancaster and the environs. He also supervises a speciality doctor who looks after his CMHT’s community patients and those patients referred to Single Point of Access.
Dr Smith has over 15 years’ experience of providing medico-legal psychiatric reports. During this period, he has experience of providing reports for different parties including those relating to defendants/defence, those relating to plaintiff/prosecution and reports commissioned jointly by both sides. He has experience of presenting reports to the court and of being cross examined in court and this experience relates to medico legal matters pertaining to Civil, Personal Injury, Family and Criminal Proceedings. He also has experience in providing reports in relation to proceedings before the First Tier Tribunal (Mental Health Act).
