Dr Chris Ainsworth
Dr Ainsworth is a consultant clinical psychologist with who has worked extensively in forensic mental health, adult mental health and adolescent services. He provides reports for criminal and forensic courts, parole board hearings, family courts, and mental health tribunals and civil cases. He has a particular interest in complex mental health issues and forensic risk assessment and learning disability.
Dr Ainsworth is a consultant clinical psychologist with extensive experience in forensic, adult mental health and adolescent services. He has specialised in working with mentally disordered offenders and sexual offenders in medium and low secure units, prisons, and community forensic teams.
In this role he has provided assessments and supervision to a sexual offending treatment programme and have been trained in administering assessments of psychopathy (PCL-R). He was pivotal in setting up a forensic community service in Portsmouth City and developed mental health input into a local category B prison.
He currently works in a community learning disability team, providing assessment and treatment to those with complex challenging behavior, mental health and/or forensic issues.
He is trained in schema focused therapy and dialectical behaviour therapy. He teaches the University of Southampton doctoral programme on writing court reports and formulating complex cases.
