It takes place on Friday 6 November 2026 at Church House, Westminster, and can also be attended virtually. The conference has run since 1995 and is a fixture in the expert witness calendar. Last year it drew more than 750 experts, and it counts towards the ongoing expert witness training expected of medical and healthcare professionals.

This year’s programme is especially relevant to clinicians working in the courts. The day opens with a keynote from The Hon. Mrs Justice Joanna Smith KC DBE on the emerging rules for experts’ use of AI, followed by Emma Price, Counsel to the Post Office Horizon IT Inquiry, on how that inquiry is reshaping standards for expert evidence. Other sessions cover managing professional risk and liability as an expert, and Bond Solon’s Annual Legal Update. There is also a timely talk on using statistics responsibly in court, which will interest anyone whose reports rely on psychometric or actuarial data. In the afternoon, specialist parallel sessions include Family, led by partners from Freeths, and Medico-Legal, led by partners from Leigh Day. The day closes with a panel on the promise and pitfalls of AI in expert practice, followed by a drinks reception.
